June 28th, 2k8 5:05pm

Things are going much better than they were last time I left news. Nothing is perfect, and nothing here is perfect, but it is okay. Blade is eating normally. He just finished 1st grade. My mission this summer is to get an official diagnosis. We'll see how that goes. More updates soon

December 18th, 2k6 2:55pm

Things have really changed around here. 11 months ago yesterday, Karen left. I guess it just didn't work out. Things are proceeding in that direction and the divorce should be final sometime next month. We have joint custody, but I pretty much do everything for the kids. I make sure they get to school, I take care of them when they're sick, I take them to the doctor, etc. It's a lot, but I'm glad to have them. Karen sees them several times a week, and I know they really enjoy this. One thing I AM grateful to Karen for, and that's that we have both worked really hard to not make this difficult for the kids. Blade had a really hard time with it at first, but he's doing well now. Karen and I are actually getting along really well, which is nice. In other news, Blade got his g-tube out sometime in may I think. He is now eating entirely by mouth, and eating (fairly) normally. He's still picky as hell, but he's good. His favorite foods include coke (I don't give him much coke), pizza rolls, hot dogs, and cheeseburgers. Aiden eats EVERYTHING, even stuff that's not food. I was thinking about renaming him Mr. Goat. In any case, I think I'm gonna start a page for Aiden soon, so he can have his own page.

May 10th, 2k5 3:05pm

Blade has really calmed down as far as the feeding power struggle thing...AS LONG AS I feed him at home. He's really picky (nothing like his father or grandfather) about how, where, and what he eats. He's still obsessed w/Thomas the Tank Engine. The big news about him recently (besides his hair) is that he's starting to respond to people rather than just repeat what he's heard. I worry about his speech development sometimes, but he seems to be doing well.

March 3rd, 2k5 3am

Blade and I seem to have this ongoing power struggle when it comes to feeding. Yesterday, I tried to feed him stage 3 broccolli and carrots w/cheese. He did NOT approve.  So much so, that he threw up on me. It is sometimes hard to remember that spanking your children does NOT work. I completely understand WHY parents spank their kids: but it just doesn't work. ESPECIALLY with a kid like Blade. He's basically a very good kid. He's rambunctious as heck, but he's a good kid. He really loves Aiden. We were really worried about how he would adjust to having a little brother, and he seems fine.

January 20th, 2k5 9:52am

Blade is doing very well. He's a lot more conversational. It almost seems that he speaks in allegory sometimes. What I mean by that is he will quote other stuff he has heard as it applies to whatever situation he is in. Though he has been asserting his "authority" a bit more than usual lately, he's also shown a great deal more understanding. He gets along really well with Aiden (whom we now call "Chubbums"). I hope to try and get a voice sample online here soon. In any case, more will be revealed!!!

November 11th, 2k4 3:05pm

Blade is in School now. He's mostly eating by mouth now (except when we are lazy or he is a butthead). He's talking a lot more, and he loves his little brother to death. He has displayed some jealousy, but he's taking it out on us instead of the kid. Not really much else to report on the blade front right now. The picture on the main page is from his first set of school pictures.

August 17th, 2k4 11:45pm

Well, Aiden is here! Born at 12:45pm weighing in a 6 lbs 8 oz, 18.5 inches long and VERY healthy. I'm not gonna go into it too much more, because this is Blade's page. I expect to have a page up for Aiden in the next few days so I can go into him in more depth. Thank all of you for all your prayers. It worked!!

August 8th, 2k4  1:15am

I wasn't even thinking about updating the page today, but I went to the NICU reunion today, and so many of the people there asked me when I was going to update the page that I had to do it!!! So here you are!!!

Blade is doing well. He is mostly off of the feeding tube now, and is getting about 90% of his nutrition by mouth (except for the last few days, but I'll get to that in a second). He's started talking a lot more, which is sometimes good and sometimes not!! He's still the happiest child around, and (oddly enough), extremely well behaved. He really is my little buddy.

Karen went to the doctor on Wed and they noticed the amniotic fluid levels were low, so they put her on bed rest. We went back on Friday, thinking we might have the baby, but they just kept her on bed rest, though the fluid levels are a lot better. We go back on Monday, and we've all but decided we're gonna have the baby as soon as we can!!

I plan to have a more comprehensive post about how Blade is doing with a lot more as soon as I have time to re-vamp the page. I will have a few pictures of Cooter (whom we have now properly named Aiden Olorin Griggs), but I'm gonna get him his own website, because this is Blades. In any case, I want to close this post by saying THANK YOU again to all of you who helped Blade live. Words cannot express how happy that has made me!!

And one final note: I have heard that Dr. Al-mateen is opening up a new private pediatric practice. If you know how to contact him or that office, please email me at babyblade@addr.com

April 14th, 2k4  8:55pm

Karen went in for an ultrasound this morning and it was confirmed!! We have a boy. Up until today, she thought we were having a girl, and we were calling him "Emily". Since it's a boy and we need time to come up with a name, we are calling him "cooter" until we figure it out.

February 29th, 2k3 1:15am

Well, Blade's Birthday present arrived a few days ago. It was a Sleepytime Express Choo Choo bed, his first "big boy" bed. We got it all put together (after much difficulty) and then showed him, pretty close to the time for his nap. He really enjoyed it, at first. I think he thought it was a toy. When we told him to take a nap, he freaked!! He puked twice all over the place and spent most of nap time in his room screaming. He did quiet down. After his nap was over, Karen found him on the floor!! I kept him up real late, so I have yet to see if he's gonna sleep in the bed or not. I guess we'll see.

In other news, Karen is pregnant again. She's 13 2/3 weeks along now. The due date is August 29th. I will have ultrasound pictures up soon!!! That's all for now!!!

December 1st, 2k3 6:47pm

Nope, that's not a computer error. We got Blade a mohawk. Simply put, we did this because we can. He doesn't really have an opinion one way or the other about the cut, but he DOES NOT like having his hair cut AT ALL. Hehehehehehehe.

October 27th, 2k3 3:40pm

I guess you could say Blade is doing both well and not-so-well. His feeding has gone really badly lately. We're on a more rigourous (for all parties concerned) feeding regimen now, and he really needs to get his skills up. Speech seems to be coming along. I get the distinct impression with Blade that he isn't speaking yet 'cause he doesn't want to. You see, he has better things to do!! Oh, and for anyone shopping for an x-mas gift for him, he loves the Wiggles and Thomas the Train.

October 10th, 2k3 10:23am

It's been a bit since I updated this page. We've been soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo busy lately!! Blade is really coming into his own. He's still not talking a whole lot yet, at least not in sentences. He can count to 5, and every once in awhile he will communicate in words, but he doesn't usually like to so do in front of me, for some reason. Blade and the Kitty have a sort-of uneasy truce going on. Kitty loves Blade and is fiercely protective, but at the same time does NOT like Blade to mess with her at all. They've had a few "run-ins", and Blade has learned to keep his distance. He has a little train that he loves and carries arou8nd with him everywhere. He also likes to draw circles ON EVERYTHING. Feeding wise, we've had a bit of a setback. He's gonna go into the hospital for an endoscopy and some other tests on Monday, October 20th so that they can see if they can figure out why he's started throwing up so much again. God, I thought we were through this. Please keep him in your prayers.

June 25th, 2k3 10:23pm

Today was a fun day. I took Blade to the Richmond Metropolitan Zoo.  It was fun, but it was HOT. Blade was walking around growling at all the animals, but he really didn't like being near to them. I think he was the most afraid of the giraffe and the cow.  He seemed to like the Tigers (the zoo has a rare White Bengal Tiger), but I think by that time we were both just too hot to get our full measure of enjoyment. I may put up more pictures of the Zoo soon.

June 11th, 2k3 9:41am

Blade is doing pretty well these days. He has had a bas spot of congestion which has made it harder for him to eat, but he's really working hard. We had him tested yesterday to see where he is developmentally. What came out of that is that his fine motor skills are about 8 months behind and his speech skills are about a year behind. I believe this is because Blade decided that he would rather play his own games than what they wanted him to play. I do believe he is ahead of that, but we're going to be getting him some therapy so he can catch up. Personally, I think it's all a plot.

Oh, and last night was fun. Blade kept my wife up 'till about Midnight (I was out at a friends house), and when I got home, went right to sleep for me. Go figure.

May 28th, 2k3 1:45pm

Blade is rambunctious as ever. The artwork on the front page of this site was done by Blade about 2 weeks ago. It was so hilarious, I couldn't even be mad. Blade and I are in a humongous power struggle right now. He's been throwing up a lot, and I'm pretty sure it's to show that he's in countrol. Otherwise he's still doing very well. He's not really talking for us yet, but I'm sure that will come, if the people at Childrens ever feel like calling us back. In any case, there will be more updates soon!!!

April 7th, 2k3 11:05am

I have the distinct impression that Blade knows how to talk, yet he's trying to keep it a secret. One of the reasons I think this is that Beth (my sister) came over a few days ago to babysit for us. We were sitting there on the couch. Beth asked him "Where's the kitty?". He looked at her, pointed in another direction, and said "She's over there". He looked at me with surprise, then started babbling, as if to cover up. I haven't been able to get him to put a sentence together since then, but I have my suspicions!!!

March 17th, 2k3 10:40am

Well, he's two. So far, since he's been 2, one of our cars have been stolen, our house caught on fire, our tires slashed, and our nation brought to the brink of war. Sometimes it scares me and I wonder what I can do about it. What we can do is pray. Hey, it kept Blade alive, it can deal with this. In any case, his two year checkup was fine, he is good in all areas except feeding (which we knew) and speech (which we suspected). He's a few months behind on that. We're gonna take him to a speech therapist and see what needs to be done (personally, I think Blade just needs a job, but that's me). In any case, please keep your prayers rolling. Not just for Blade, but for President Bush, all of our Men and Women in Uniform, and for the World in general.

January 19th, 2k3 3:12pm

Well, Blade is walking now. Which I guess is both good and bad. He has decided that all of my wife's Bath products belong either in the toilet or the cat box. He draws on the walls and he hides remote controls (I had to go to the cable company to get a new remote because he hid it and has not given it back). He has had a bit of a setback in learning to eat, but that's just due to his attitude. He isn't talking in English yet, but he is talking (I think it's a mixture of Teletubbese and Ancient Sumerian).

As far as Karen and I, we are doing well. Karen has been learning to be an EMT as part of her safety training for Alcoa. I am going to start a support group for parents of special needs children to learn to deal with the frustration of having a kid like this. I have also become involved in a 2nd Amendent rights group called the VCDL . They are a bit conservative for my usual tastes, but they are a one-issue group. Karen has begun to learn belly dancing (hehe) and I am going to embark upon a fitness quest. That's it for now. More soon.

October 11th, 2k2, 7:15pm

He's getting about 75% or more of his food by mouth now, and he's started doing this "baby walk" thing on a semi-regular basis now. It kinda looks like a drunken stagger, pretty funny. He is doing really well. IF you haven't already checked it out, check out the book Snake Hips, Belly Dancing and How I found True Love by Anne Thomas Soffee. She's a friend of mine. I just picked up the book today, so I haven't read it all the way through, but it's been enjoyable so far. Also, be sure to check out Caleb Footes' page to check on his progress (link is on the main page). More news to come soon.

October 1st, 2k2, 6:45pm

Blade has had a big improvement in the last week in the amount of food he eats per day. He is eating almost half his nutrition by mouth now. It's very recent, so it's still sorta unstable, but it's a big improvement. Today, he had about 710 calories by mouth (though he probably threw up about 200 of that). I have stopped feeding him by tube except the overnight feeding of 16-18 ounces. We will see how that affects his weight. If he is still gaining, I will keep it up.

On another note, my friend, Anne Thomas Soffee had her book come out today, "Snake Hips: Belly Dancing and how I Found True Love". Check out the web page for the book here. I haven't got a copy yet, but I plan to in the next day or two. Anne is a terrific writer and a neat person. Pick up a copy today!!

Also, please keep Caleb Foote in your prayers. He is a little boy at Vanderbilt Hospital in Tennessee right now who is on ECMO and is in desperate need of a transplant. Please keep him in your prayers, as he needs all the help he can get.

September 29th, 2k2 9:55am

Blade has shown a marked improvement over the last few days in the amount of food he will eat by mouth. He's still having a bit of trouble keeping it all down, but he is taking more. He's really working hard at it, which is a good thing. He still doesn't like to walk much, though he has the ability (I have seen him do it). He can crawl much faster than he can walk. He and I have both been sick this week, but I think we are both feeling better, though we're both still a bit testy and irritable. It's just like looking in the mirror. In any case, keep the prayers coming! He's making progress!!!

September 23rd, 2k2 3:35am

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Can't sleep. CAn't sleep. Can't sleep. Blade is doing well. He is over 20 lbs now, we have turned the car seat around. He's got a cold today, one that I think Daddy finally has caught. He's eating more by mouth, but it's still an uphill battle. Blade is now repeating what we say sometimes (now I REALLY have to watch what comes out of my mouth). He took his first steps over 3 weeks back, but has only done it sporadically since then. Why should he? He can crawl much faster than he can walk. That's all for now. More coming soon.

August 1st, 2k2 2:35pm

Blade is doing well. He's up to 19lbs 8oz. We have gone back and forth about getting more surgery for him to keep him from throwing up so he'll gain more, but we'll have to see. My friends, David and Donna just had a new baby. Things are going okay, except that Blade never lets me get any sleep (that's only a slight exaggeration). He is eating more by mouth now, so that's a very good thing. In any case, keep praying for him. I'll put more up soon.

May 11th, 6:25pm

Blade is doing extremely well. He has gained OVER A POUND since he got the G-tube put in. The only problem we have with it is that he likes to open it up sometimes, spilling stomach contents everywhere (which is LOADS of fun). Otherwise, things are going along well. He has 2 or 3 weeks left in the day feeding program and then it's back to outpatient therapy.

May 2nd - 1:15am

Well, guess I didn't update it in a week. A lot has happened, and it is truly AMAZING how much work this little guy is. He's worth every second, though. For those of you that haven't met him, the first thing most people notice about him is that he is happy practically ALL the time, and that is NOT an exaggeration. He has these little habits that are just, well they are WEIRD. YES, I HAVE A WEIRD CHILD: WHAT A SHOCKER. He loves to play with syringes. He loves to grab himself in strange places and make the motorboat sound, he likes it when I take this big huge plastic ball that's about as big as he is ($2.50 from Wal-Mart) and throw it at his face. He LOVES AA and NA meetings. He loves the Wiggles (children's entertainment from Australia), he loves the Teletubbies (so do Karen and I, but you can actually feel your IQ  actually DROP when you watch them. If you don't believe me, rent a Teletubbies tape and then tell me what you think), he's not allowed to watch Barney (because Barney is the spawn of Satan), and he HATES Elmo (someone got him a "Tickle Me Elmo" doll from Childrens' hospital, and he screams every time someone tickles it near him).

It's been a weird month or so. Karen and I had to have work done on her car, which was done by the wonderful folks at Powhatan All Tune and Lube. The owners are good friends of mine, and they ACTUALLY do honest work, which is rare in the auto repair business. Of course, it was Tax Time again, but we actually fared pretty well this year. If we could just get everything straight from Karen's name change, we'd be fine. We joined a health club and I started exercising. We continue to struggle with finances, trying to pay off the myriad of folks that have helped us out that we owe money to (and you know who you are). But the big news is (of course) with Blade.

He was doing very well in the feeding program for about 3 or 4 weeks. He started having some problems spitting up during the feedings. Dr. Williams really felt like Blade getting the G-tube (a tube which goes into his stomach that we can feed him by instead of the nasty nasal gastric tube) was the best solution, because he wasn't gaining weight and wasn't progressing fast enough in therapy. To make matters worse, first I got the stomach flu, then Karen got it, then Blade got it, then Blade got the rotavirus (it's really nasty), then daddy got the flu. Blade missed a week from the feeding program, back for a week, then missed a week and a half. He had the surgery for the G-tube this past friday and it went VERY well. Blade's first day back in the feeding program was today, and it was pretty rough as far as the protocol was concerned. It really did hurt his progress to be off so much. The one thing that was good that came out of all this was the G-tube surgery.

He has only thrown up ONCE since April 21st, which is unprecedented for Blade. We are able to give him bolus feeds on a regular basis now and do not have to feed him overnight (a bolus feed is one where you just let gravity make the formula flow into his tube rather than having a feeding pump do the job. A bolus feed takes 5 minutes to deliver 6 ounces as opposed to 45 minutes to an hour with the pump). It's a little tricky, because we have to keep it from opening up, but that hasn't happened a whole lot. We were worried that there was damage to the esophagus (because he would vomit at least once a day), but they did a pinch biopsy when they put the tube in, and there was no damage at all. They were also concerned because sometimes a G-tube can cause A LOT of extra reflux, but it doesn't seem to have done that here. While it's really too early to tell for certain, it appears that he is gaining weight rapidly as well. In short, the G-tube is probably the best thing we could have done for him at this point.

Well, it's late and I want to get some reading in before I hit the sack. Thanks for all your prayers, and keep coming back!!!

March 24th - 11pm

Well, We finally got Blade into the feeding program, and I must say that I'm impressed. I'm going to be taking pictures in there this week, and hopefully can give y'all a better idea of what goes on there. Right now, suffice it to say that Blade goes in Monday thru Friday from 9am to about 3:45pm and does some pretty intensive work. He's showing marked improvement. We still have a lot of problems with him refluxing (throwing up). We thought we were gonna have to get rid of the kitty for a bit, but we didn't. We have our house cleaned professionally every two weeks (completely debunking the theory that you have to be rich to have that done) and got an air purifier. We should find out more in the next week, so I'm gonna try and update in a week.

On another note, the website has been up a little over a year now! Thanks for visiting!

February 13th - 2:30am

The Ohio trip was very good. Blade had a lot of reflux on the first part of the trip, but he got better. I will not launch into a big description of the trip now (I will put a special section up in a few days), but it was fun. Congratulations to Richard and Lane on the birth of their daughter. Blade is in Children's Hospital for a few days because they want to try and see if they can determine the cause of his slow weight loss. I hate having him in there, but if they find out what they need to, hopefully Mr. Baby won't have to have any more surgery. In any case, please say a prayer for him when you read this. More to come soon.

February 2nd - 1:00am

Back again from my long absense. IT has been quite a busy month and a half. Blade is now a rambunctious, mischievious, devious, and otherwise miscreant little man, and I love him more every day. He has switched his feeding therapy over tot he program at childrens and is doing VERY well. Yesterday, he was 16lbs7.5oz!!! He has a little bit of a cold w/lots of congestion right now which is causing a bit more vomiting than usual,  but he is doing well. I really think if he can just get over this hump, he'll be fine.  He loves to rip up magazines and yell about it. He love the remote. He loves the kitty. He loves Jerry Springer. He loves the Wiggles. In any case, he did have an endoscopy done last month, which showed that there was some reflux going on, but the feeding therapist is hopeful that if we can get him into the day feeding program at childrens (6 hours a day, 5 days a week), that we can avoid having to put a g-tube in. Dr. Williams is a little concerned about his weight gain (or lack thereof), but personally, I think he's gonna be fine. Blade has ALWAYS had this habit of pulling himself out of the "danger zone" at the last minute. My opinion of the feeding program at childrens is getting better. They still aren't great at calling you back, but they are VERY nice people and they are VERY VERY good at what they do. Blade is now eating foods and taking liquids through a squeeze bottle. Not very much at a time, really, but it is progress.  From 2-4 until 2-7, Blade and I are going to see my parents in Kent, OH. I'm sure that I'll have many good pictures from that.

Dec. 13th - 2:30am

Hello! Yes, it's been quite awhile since I've put anything up. Things are going well (mostly). Blade had some problems for a bit gaining weight. He can sit up VERY well. He can stand on his own if he has something to pull up on. Lately, he has been trying to leap out of the crib. He actually did jump out once, but luckily I was right there and caught him. The people over at the all-powerful Childrens' Hospital feeding program are supposed to put a g-tube in Blades's stomach so that he doesn't pull his tube out all over the place. Forgive me if I rant for a second here. I've heard over and over again how great the feeding program at Childrens' is. I gotta tell ya, I haven't seen it yet. What they've shown me so far is that I have to threaten them EVERY TIME I need an appointment scheduled. They call in prescriptions that I already have WITHOUT telling me, which means that it's difficult to get the medicine due to Insurance crap (can you tell I'm frustrated???). They have shown me that they don't want to return calls, and that they do A LOT of talking. If ONE MORE PERSON tells me they understand, I'm going to vomit on the spot. Got news for ya, unless you have a child like Blade (or worse), you DON'T understand, DON'T TELL ME YOU DO. (Okay, rant done). We are staying here for X-mas. Blade should get the g-tube in mid-end Jan. More news a little later.

Nov. 13th - 1:15am(Going to Tennessee)

So, we're going to Tennessee for Thanksgiving. More specifically, we're going to Rockwood, Tn. I had hoped to go to both Shelbyville (where my maternal grandmother lives) and Rockwood, but I'm only going to be able to go to one, and, well Rockwood is closer. I do, however, plan to go to Shelbyville within the next six months. Granny (that's my Mother's mother) and Steve and Charlotte and Nancy are very dear to me, and I hated to make this decision. It's really a question of time and money right now. That being said, we are going to see Mom and Jacqueline and HOPEFULLY Rick, Peg, Ginger, Linda, and Vada among others. Mom (that's my name for my Father's Mother) is 92 this year!! I know she's been looking forward to seeing Blade, and he's been looking forward to seeing her.

Now, as to why the updates have been so sporadic. I upgraded to Windows XP professional, and it just so happens that the drivers for my camera for Windows XP are not out yet (will be the end of this month). I'm using the Windows 2k drivers and Photoshop to get the new pics now, so it should be updated now.

The little man is doing well, other than sporadic bouts with emesis and teething (he's got 4 TEETH COMING IN AT ONCE! SOMEONE GIVE THIS MAN SOME MORPHINE!!!). He can sit up, he can say words (very few. I'm going to have to start watching my language now), and he can almost crawl. He eats by mouth several times a week now. The deal with that is that he just doesn't know what to do with the food in his mouth, he is physically capable of eating. He's in feeding therapy twice a week now.

Oct. 29th - 9:30am

A wacky last couple of weeks, to put it nicely. I can't find my camera right now, so the picture on the front was taken a few weeks back. I figured you'd still like it, though. Blade has been sick a little and he's had trouble with his reflux, but he's still gaining weight (albeit not as much as the doctors want him to. Personally, I think they need to take a valium on that one. He's doing just fine). He says "mama" and "dada" and "baby" now (constantly, especially at 7am). One of the real neat things about Blade is that he keeps my moods even (or more even than they would be otherwise). The last few weeks have been stressful for Karen and I on several levels, but Blade could care less, as long as he can see the kitty (man, he loves that kitty). If we can find the camera and if I can keep from screwing up the computer too much more, than hopefully I'll be able to update more often. Oh, in about a month, Karen, Blade and I (and hopefully Beth and Grant) will go to Tennessee to see relatives, who will be meeting Blade for the first time.

Oct. 8th - 10:15am

It's been another good few weeks. This past thursday, Blade (finally) had an Upper GI and a Modified Barium Swallow study done to make sure that he is physically able to swallow. These tests are the prerequisites to him receiving aggressive feeding therapy (which I hope will start soon). He did EXTREMELY well. The only setbacks we are having these days is that he tends to pull the tube out a lot, sometimes causing him to 'lose his lunch' so to speak, but I guess that will happen. It will just be nice to not have to do that anymore.

The picture on the front page of this web is of Blade and Mr. Frog. Mr. Frog is a stuffed animal that Blade got from my Aunt Charlotte and Uncle John of Tennessee. Mr. Frog is Blades' favorite toy now. Any time he is upset, I walk up to the crib and say "Hey Blade!". He looks at me. Then I say something like "Have you seen...". Then, as I present the toy swiftly, I exclaim "Mr. FROG!". I have never seen a more excited child than Blade when I do that. He scoots around on his back, but when he's stationary like that and gets all excited, he starts trying to move, and it looks like a pelvic thrust (tee hee).

Blade has a new tooth in (almost). My wife noticed it yesterday. I take him to the doctor this afternoon, so I don't know what he weighs now, but my guess is in excess of 14 lbs. He's also very long. The last time he was measured, he was 27.5" long. The problem we have with him is that he's skinny, but long. All the outfits we have for him are for smaller babies, but they aren't long enough! Anyone know if there is a 'Big and Tall' for babies. Don't say Babies-R-Us. That is a great place, but I'm convinced it was spawned by satan.  I went in thete to get an outfit for him a few weeks back, and ended up spending $90. THEY PUT THE TOYS RIGHT NEXT TO THE INFANT CLOTHES. When Blade saw the toys, he got so excited, and I have not developed a defense against that yet.

Okay, I'm off to see the wizard. Many thanks to the GD for supporting me and for all of our friends, relatives, and everyone around. More next time.

Sept. 22nd - 7:35pm

Things are going very well for the little man. He can almost sit up by himself, he can roll over both ways. He is having a swallow study done within a week or so, and when he passes, they're going to start working with him very aggressively to learn how to feed. The pulmonologist got an x-ray of his lungs and said they are clearing nicely and he shouldn't need any extra support during the winter months. He has a tooth now on the bottom, and he sticks his tongue out at EVERYTHING. I want to take this time to say a special thanks to Josh, Dave, Lee, Beth, and Helen for babysitting for us. Thanks, and keep us in your prayers. Also, keep the families of those that died this past Sep. 11th in your prayers.

Sept. 9 - 10am

Little buddy is doing extremely well. No, he's not eating thru a bottle yet. The deal  is that our pediatrician told us to start giving him pedialyte from a bottle, just a little each day. He'll take it, swallow one or two gulps, and that's about all he can handle (he's never swallowed before). The feeding clinic was gonna wait to do a swallow steady, and his OT therapist said to work with her before we do any feeding, but I am just simply tired of people looking at him saying "He needs to grow more". Now, I'm not a doctor, but it seems to me that the way babies grow more is by...........

eating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I'm not frustrated or anything. But heck, compared to what he's been through, this is nothing. He certainly is having a good time most of the time. It's only when I have to put that damn tube down his nose that he is unhappy. In any case, more will be revealed I guess.
